About SBV to SRT

SBV and SRT store similar caption information in different file structures. Use this tool when you have SubViewer captions from a YouTube workflow and a destination requests SRT. It converts the existing caption file without downloading a video or running speech recognition.

What to expect

  • Reads start, end SBV timing lines and creates numbered SRT cues.
  • Each SBV caption block must be separated by a blank line. Files are read as UTF-8.
  • Original words and times are retained. Conversion does not correct recognition mistakes or caption delays.

Frequently asked questions

Is SBV the same as SRT?

Both can store timed text, but the syntax differs. SBV places two period-based timestamps on a comma-separated line; SRT uses cue numbers and an arrow between comma-based timestamps.

Do I need a YouTube URL?

No. This tool processes a subtitle file you already have. It does not download videos or retrieve captions from a URL.

Can I export WebVTT instead?

Yes. Open the same SBV file in Subtitle Converter and choose VTT as the output format.
