About Subtitle Converter

Use one converter for caption files from web players, subtitle editors and YouTube workflows. The file content determines its input format. Choose SRT for a SubRip workflow, VTT for a web caption track, or TXT when you only need the words.

What to expect

  • Accepts text-based .srt, .vtt, .ass, .ssa and .sbv files up to 2 MB each.
  • Timing and dialogue are retained. Exports use plain captions; styles, karaoke effects, positioning and metadata are removed with notes.
  • Image subtitles, embedded video tracks and plain text without timestamps need different processing. They are not supported here.

How to use Subtitle Converter

Choose a supported UTF-8 file or paste its contents. The converter reads the actual format, not just the filename.

Select SRT, VTT or TXT. Convert and check the preview plus any notes about information that cannot transfer.

  3. 03

    Download the result

Save a new file for your player or editor. Your original file is not overwritten.

Frequently asked questions

Which formats can I convert?

Input supports SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA and SBV. Output supports SRT, VTT and TXT. ASS and SSA dialogue events are supported, including commas and line breaks in the text.

Can I convert SUB, PGS or a video?

Not in this converter. Some SUB and PGS files contain images that require OCR. To generate captions from speech, use Video to Text. Renaming a file does not convert its contents.

Does conversion preserve subtitle styling?

The result preserves readable text and cue times. Advanced styling, drawing events and positioning cannot be preserved in plain-caption output; conversion notes explain the losses.
